| The Scandic Sjofarthotellet is located in Sodermalm, which is perhaps Stockholm's liveliest area, with a vibrant mixture of restaurants, pubs, and shopping facilities, local inhabitants and cultural events, all within walking distance of Gamla Stan (the Old Town). There is a breathtaking view from Fjallgatan, and the Djurgarden ferries are close by. In spite of its central position, the hotel is located in a quiet area, around 200 metres from the lively local thoroughfares. The entire hotel was refurbished in 1998, trying to recreate the maritime atmosphere of the area. The warm colours, the brass and the cherry and oak wood create a delightful, genuine atmosphere suited to the reception the Hotel gives its guests. The Scandic Sjofartshotellet offers 206 guest rooms, and the range includes combis, twin and double rooms, comfort rooms, and a suite. We offer our guests combi-rooms - a Swedish invention which could be interpreted as single rooms with an extra bed. The combi-rooms are rather small with a bed and a sofa-bed along one of the walls. They are very good as a single and acceptable as a twin. All rooms have a TV, telephone and hair dryer and most are equipped with an iron and trouser press. The reception has a safe deposit box, is manned 24 hours a day and is always at your service. The restaurant Kajutan serves breakfast in the morning and offers an a la carte menu in the evening, which includes traditional dishes and Swedish home cooking with culinary influences from all over the world. In the lobby, you can relax at the Coffee Shop/Bar, the hotel's central meeting place. They serve both hot and cold drinks, fresh pastries, and buns, delicious sandwiches, and much, much more. So sit down, read the paper, have a Cappuccino or a glass of wine and enjoy your stay at the hotel! On the top of the building, on the 7th floor, you can go out on the terrace and enjoy the view over Gamla Stan (the Old Town), Djurgarden and Saltsjon. This is one of Stockholm's best viewing points, and events can be arranged for up to 80 people. The hotel has a sauna which can be used by all guests free of charge, and if you want to work out, there is a gym close by. If you enjoy jogging, Riddarfjarden Runt (Round Riddarfjarden) is an event which requires a certain amount of fitness but allows you to see Stockholm at its best. Staying at the hotel sometimes involves work as well as pleasure. The Hotel has excellent conference facilities with three large conference rooms and five group rooms. The lounge is known as Parlan (the Pearl Room), and can be used as a banqueting area or for minor trade fairs or conferences. The Hotel will look after your guests arranging food and refreshments both during the day and in the evening, as required. A conference host is available throughout the day, who will help you make all your arrangements regarding special equipment and service requirements. |
